Today’s digital press technologies have made printing sensible quantities (50, 100, 250) available, at economical prices, and on an assortment of paper stocks with detail and clarity equal to that of traditional off-set printing. In the past, professional quality posters were too expensive for most because they had to be produced in quantities of 500, 1,000 or more keeping the printing costs high. The traditional off-set process offers a great price per copy, but few people needed so many. And in the past producing smaller quantities on a color copier from a large format master printout was costly and produced a significant loss in image detail, color brilliance and accuracy on thin flimsy paper. Designs can be horizontal or vertical. Content can vary from graphic illustrations to photographic images with logos, typesetting and product images added. Large digital files are required to produce these valuable, versatile promotional tools. Available in both four color process, spot color or black & white, with or without bleed (printing to the edge). Open space is usually left somewhere for information to be added (about three inches), such as "When & Where" info for an event or show, or "Now Available" information for product releases and announcements. This allows them to be used for several different events and purposes. The most common size is 11” x 17” for most posters because they are small enough to fold in half for promo kits and mail, yet still big enough to draw attention when placed in store windows for display. Other Standard sizes are 8.5" x 11" and 18" x 24". We recommend starting with a clear sharp photograph printed on glossy paper or high resolution digital image to provide the best quality prints.
